Free resonance vibration type equipment to measure modulus of Rigidty and internal friction

OUTLINE of THE EQUIPMENTS

These equipments employ the characteristic vibration method with the free resonance vibration mode and specialized for the measurement of modulus of rigidity and internal friction. Since the free vibration method keeps the specimen at the vibration nodes without any restraint, errors from individual difference and repeated measurements can be minimized and, accordingly, it is characterized by the excellent reproducibility of the data.
Comparing with other conventional machines with free vibration method, which measure only the Young's modulus, we have realized the pure twist vibration in this series and, therefore, enabled the measurement of the modulus of rigidity by employing the crossing wire setting method to hold the specimen and the contactless electric Coulomb driving and sound detection method used for the Young's modulus measurement.

The specimens 10mm wide standardized for our other equipments can also be used in the present one. This means that only one specimen is needed to measure different kinds of elastic constants including the modulus of rigidity.

In the case of modulus of rigidity, the frequency of vibration is usually twice as much of that of Young's modulus. We can afford of supplying enough wide range of frequency for that because of enough experiences obtained by the development of our JE series equipments.
As well as the JE series, the specimen setting is very easily done by just placing it on the crossed wires. In such a way, our JG series to measure the modulus of rigidity are certainly stepping far ahead of the conventional "Pseudo-free-vibration method" so far developed by other manufacturers.

Similar to the JE series, the present series also prepare
a compact, computer built-in type exclusively for room temperature measurement (JG-RT),
a high temperature manual type (JG-HTm), which requires manual opertion in temperature setting and measurement,
and a computer controlled automatic high temperature type (JG-HT).

The free resonance type machines need the highest skill and good understanding in operation above 600Ž, since the measurement becomes difficult there.

Like the JE series,the compact and low price part of JG for room temperature measurement can be used for the precision calibration of the EG-HT equipments for high temperature use.
