Prof. Gary L. Francione
ゲイリー・フランショーン教授

ロチェスター大学にて文学士を修め、ヴァージニア大学にて文学博士号と法学博士号を取得。1981〜1982年の間、連邦控訴裁判所（第五巡回区・＊）にてテイト判事 the Honorable Albert Tate, Jr. の調査官を務め、1982〜1983年の間、連邦最高裁判所にて、1981年に女性初の最高裁判事となった（2000年9月現在、現職）オコナー判事 the Honorable Sandra Day O'Connor の調査官を務めた。その後、New York州（Cravath、Swaine、Mooreで）にて法実務に就いた。

ペンシルバニア法科大学 the University of Pennsylvania Law School の教員を経て、ラトガーズ大学の教員となった。

ラトガーズ大学では、法学部教授（Professor of Law and Nicholas deB. Katzenbach Scholar of Law and Philosophy）である。動物法を正式科目としてNewark校にて教授し、1990年に、チャールトン準教授 Annna Charlton とともに「動物の権利相談所 Animal Rights Clinic」を設立。ここで、動物の権利に関する課程を教えている。専門は、不法行為法、法と科学・医学、法理学、動物の権利に関する法。

私生活では、肉食の忌避にとどまらず、乳製品も摂取しない。徹底した菜食主義者 Vegan である。American Vegan Society （P.O. Box 369, MALAGA, NJ 08328）会員。
